The CVA Movement

 IT  STARTED

 WITH AN IDEA.

ABOUT US

CVA/HomesNow! Meal Service April 2018

CVA was founded by four volunteers who were previously homeless themselves. We have grown to over 30 volunteers  and continue to grow. We operate under the social learning model which means that all of our volunteers and core members have lived experience with poverty and the issues surrounding it, such as housing or food insecurity, addiction and recovery, mental illness and accessing services, etc. We feel this gives us a unique perspective in relating to our guests and clients, because we share many aspects of their life experience.

OUR MISSION

Cascadia Volunteer Advocacy was established in December 2015. We are a fully incorporated Washington State non-profit corporation.

Our mission statement is to promote harm reduction for the street community and their advocates using compassionate social interaction as our basis.

OUR INSPIRATION

CVA volunteers and members are inspired by the homeless community. We see in those experiencing homeless the brightest and best among us. Their continued resiliency in the face of classism, racism, ableism and many other forms of oppression is a true testament to the enduring passion of the human spirit.
